Water activity (aw) indicates the amount of unbound (free) water in a material. It is a critical parameter in food preservation and quality assurance—for example, determining the shelf life of meat or other perishable goods. The aw value depends on the water vapor pressure inside the material, the current temperature, and the vapor pressure of the surrounding environment.

The Humimeter RH2 enables quick and easy measurement of water activity in food products. Two interchangeable sensor types are available for various applications:

• Large-volume measuring chamber: Ideal for bulk samples, allowing faster analysis and the possibility of testing more representative sample sets.

• Small-volume sample cell: Suitable for minimal sample quantities and supports sensor replacement, offering flexibility for different sample types.

This device is compatible with a wide range of products such as butter, fruit blends, spices, grains, PVC, mushrooms, xylitol, and more.
